Revolutionizing ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Training

February 08, 2016

Kelmac Group® have been offering ISO 9001 Internal Auditor training since 1996. In that time, we have worked with many Learners from the Fortune 500 to small business owners in over 35 countries, but one thing often stands out – the vast majority of people assume that once training is certified that all training is created equal, and we find that they would primarily select a training provider based on cost or location. Perhaps some of you have seen our recently released video that discusses the differences between our training and that of our competitors? Well if you haven’t, we basically highlight that in choosing which training provider you want to work with – you should look beyond some of the normal criteria, this includes …

What is FSSC 22000 Certification? What training classes are there?

January 09, 2016

The standard that the organization will adopt will depend on many aspects, such as but not limited to the nature of their business, regulatory requirement, type of product (s), customer preference or requirement, standard recognition or contractual requirement. FSSC 22000 is comprised of ISO 22000:2005 (overall guidelines/requirements for food safety management systems) and ISO 22002-1:2009 (prerequisite requirements for food manufacturing). In simple terms, FSSC 22000 specifies requirements for a Food Safety System that demonstrates that food safety hazards are controlled so that food is safe at the time of human consumption. It has generally been adopted amongst leading recognizable brands such as Kraft, Coca-Cola, General M…

ISO 14001 – Your Organization, Your Environment

December 31, 2015

ISO 14001 is the world most popular environmental management system standard. As of 2013 it is currently implemented by 301,647 [1]organisations worldwide, so it must obviously work and its voluntary! Environmental management is all about how a company interacts with the environment and how it manages that interaction. It’s where the company figures out how it interacts with the environment and decides how best to control and manage its products, services and activities that affect the environment. In simple terms, ISO 14001:2004 is about putting a structured management approach in place that lets you identify your interactions (aspects and impacts), figure out which ones need to be managed closely (significant aspects),…

OHSAS 18001 Overview – What is it all about?

December 31, 2015

ISO 9001:2015 – Continual Improvement

November 18, 2015

I have outlined in a previous blog a brief for the process of risk analysis. Regulatory and client sensitive issues naturally receive more focus. For Continual Improvement, opportunities are lost when each of the lower risks items are not each considered. Very often other opportunities are also lost because the top management does not engage with the little issues that staff are having and the simple savings that can be made. I was once asked to support a production process in a non-regulated environment and the planner for the process came to me regarding change control that they had to execute. This planner had executed multiple change controls during the busy periods for several years, and was very experienced and knowledgeable….

ISO 9001:2015 – Risk based thinking

November 09, 2015

Examples include – ISO 14971, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 31000 that for most organizations, it is a mind-set that many are comfortable communicating and operating with on a daily basis. By alignment with these standards, the ISO 9001 standard itself is being continually improved in order to minimise the work involved where requirements of various standards are integrated. For enterprises, bringing ISO 9001:2015 explicitly in line with other standards and include risk based thinking is sensible as it aligns risk methodologies, mind-sets and mitigating actions across various standards and processes. For ISO 9001:2015, the risk mind-set does not always come naturally to us. There are frequent occasions where management and…

Discussing ISO/DIS 9001:2015 10.2.1 – Nonconformity

August 10, 2015

This issue may have come from an internal or an external source. It put management and the service delivery processes under pressure. It is expensive to have an issue occur once, to occur twice, is unforgivable. When a nonconformity occurred, there was always the escalation of the impact. In reality a batch of product was directly impacted, and the value of trying to Sort/Rework was minimal. For every occurrence of Sort/Rework, there was a requirement to carry out a documented risk analysis that the impact of any processing would have on that batch. This requirement is not currently in ISO 9001. However the advantage of the requirement was that the documented risk analysis is shared with the client. Any action or in…

Leadership & ISO 9001:2015

August 09, 2015

This word is a game changer to use a sporting analogy. In Sport, everyone can identify with the attributes of a great leader. Facing the challenges, earning respect, communicating with and being a mentor to their colleagues in making key decisions. In business is this challenge any different? The leaders in the business environment have also to have a very long strategic view, you have to have developed the knowledge in the core processes and product that their organization delivers. They need strong people management skills. You can be a great manager, but a great manager is only one of the attributes to be a great leader. Over my 25 years, the outstanding attribute of great leader is the ability to listen. In both l…
